Personal Insight Questions: The Stages of Writing

By now many of you have heard about the NEW Personal Insight Questions. Join us to review best practices and strategies on HOW to support students throughout the writing process from brainstorming to finalizing.

SESSION A (1:00-2:15)

A1 | The Freshman Admissions Cycle (Part 1):  What's Happening with My Application?

This presentation will provide an overview of the application cycle both before and after submission, highlighting both the student experience and what happens “behind the scenes” in the admissions office.

A2 | Undergraduate Admissions Case Studies / Letters of Recommendation

Case studies in this session will provide insight into how Berkeley reviews freshman applications and how letters of recommendation can factor in the review.

A3 | What High School Counselors Need to Know about Financial Aid

Paying for an education can be viewed as an intimidating task. This presentation will demonstrate how students can finance a UC education and will debunks the myth that it is financially beyond reach.

SESSION B (2:30-3:30)

B4 | Freshman Admission 101: The Basics for New Counselors

A review of freshman admission policies and practices, the new SAT, personal insight questions along with useful tools for counselors when advising students.

B5 | The Freshman Admissions Cycle (Part 2):  I've Been Admitted, Now What?

This presentation will highlight the post-decision process for students admitted to Berkeley. Learn what admits have to do to accept their space, submit their documents, and complete and review other important tasks and information before attending Berkeley.

B6 | Q&A with Senior Evaluators

We’ll provide answers to frequently asked questions on common topics and take your pressing “I always want to ask” specific questions and provide you with thorough answers. Our goal is to give you “ah ha!” moments and have you leave this session knowing more than you did when you arrived.
