Esperanza Bernal is the daughter of Mexican immigrants. She has a long history with UC Berkeley and the University of California. She is a proud first-gen, transfer, veteran (U.S. Navy), and re-entry student. She earned her B.A. in history in 2007 at UC Berkeley and her master’s in education at UCLA in 2010. She is an advocate for college access and has been working in higher education since 2007. Esperanza is also a former College Adviser with CEP's Destination College Advising Corps (DCAC). Prior to returning to CEP as the Director of CCTS/TAP, she worked in UC Berkeley's Office of Undergraduate Admissions for 12 years. In her tenure in admissions, as the Transfer Manager and was responsible for training, reading and helping craft a transfer class for UC Berkeley. Some fun facts about Esperanza are that she's a huge foodie, loves K-Dramas, BTS, travelling, and football (Cal and Green Bay). She is a dog mom to two beautiful fur babies Kevin Bacon (who’s a girl) and Luna.
