Born and raised in the relentless heat of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, Lucy’s lifelong passion for learning brought her to the foggy hills of San Francisco and to the beginner level ESL Classes at City College of San Francisco. Always one to “dream big,” Lucy continued her education as a parent, re-entry student and obtained her BA from UC Berkeley in 2015, almost 30 years after taking her first ESL classes. A proud daughter of a single father, mother of two first generation UC Berkeley graduates, Lucy continues to devote herself to sharing her love for education through her work, and seeks opportunities to inspire others to also dream big, usually through the quotes of her beloved, Oprah Winfrey.
